Why is Base running Important?- Baseball 101

Base running is very important, this will either win or lose games. Having good base runners is key to a winning games. There are some easy steps involved in base running. Some things you need to know about base running are knowing when to run, technique, and just know what you are doing on the bases. running the bases should be very simple. Every time the ball is hit, the batter should always sprint as hard as possible to first base. First off, the batter must make sure to focus on good technique on the swing, but then he must do everything he possibly can to get out of the box. After that, good running technique is essential. The runner should pump his arms straight back as hard as he can, run on his toes, and run in a straight line to first. It helps to pretend you’re pushing someone back with your elbows. Too many people don’t pump their arms up and down hard, nor run in a straight line to first. Also, don’t grit your teeth or run with a clenched jaw. Relaxed muscles go faster.

Off season training

Off season training is a huge part of the game. Becoming stronger will make a huge impact I. Your game. Becoming stronger will make you a better player all around. Most players only workout in the offseason but some will do it in season which is fine but a little risky if you are serious about baseball and your highschool team. When you workout there is always a chance you will get hurt. Knowing what to workout is also huge to know. Working out wrong muscles is not helpful it may just get you hurt.

Becoming a better hitter

The only way you will become a better hitter is if you put in work. One way to train l
To become a better hitter is to hit off the tee. Hitting off the tee sounds boring but it is the most important thing you have to do if you want to become a better hitter. Another thing is seeing or hitting off live pitching weather it be in a cage or on a field it doesn't matter. The last thing you will need to do is learn to study pitchers and found out their tendencies. being a good hitter is a huge thing every player needs to have.

Increasing Arm Strength- Baseball 101

Increasing your arm strength is huge in the game of baseball. To be an all around good player you are going to need to have a strong arm. Now when most of you hear "you have to have a strong arm" you probably think of lifting weights and literally become stronger. While this is true, its also false, to build up arm strength you do need to lift weights and such but you also need to throw long toss. Long toss is exactly what it sounds like, you and a partner throw long distances. This will then increase arm strength, not immediately but over a few weeks. To help reduce pain or soreness, you will need to run immediately after you throw and then ice after that. You should ice for 30 minutes, take the ice off for 30 minutes and do that at least twice.
Now onto talking about lifting weights, when you lift weights as a baseball player you never want to lift anything about the shoulders. Your probably asking yourself why? Well the reason you don't want to do this is because its bad for the rotater cuff. Especially when you are constantly using your arm to throw or even hit. Arm Strength is a very helpful tool to any baseball player at any level.

Arm Care- Baseball 101

Building your physical body and gaining arm strength are both key aspects to this game, but something that not every player does or needs to do it taking care of your arm. Throwing is pretty much the bulk of this game, if you can throw then you don't belong on a ball field. Taking care of your arm is a very easy and simple task that all players need to do on an everyday basis.

The first step to taking care of your arm is to Flush. After you throw a lot you should run or do something that will get your heart rate up. The reason you do this is to flush the Lactic Acid that builds up in your arm when you throw a lot.

The second step to this is to Ice. Icing is highly recommenced after you flush. This will take down the swelling and inflammation in your elbow or shoulder. You should ice for 20-30 minutes, take it off for 20 minutes and then back on. Doing this is how i have been doing it since i was a little kid and haven't experienced arm problems yet. Now will you have a little pain? Absolutely you will that a part of the game.
Remember its your arm and you have to take care of it, your coach or parents cant do it for you. If you have arm pains its your responsibility to let your coach and parents know so you don't hurt it further.

Mentally in the Game- Baseball 101

A big part about baseball is in your head, a famous quote is " Baseball is 90 % mental and the other half is physical. This is saying you have to have a brain to play this game, you have to be mentally prepared to play this game. A lot of this applies to hitting, during a game players don't go up the plate without thinking about what they are going to do. For example if a player is on first base, the hitter will be thinking about what he has to do to be productive, such as hit the ball on the ground towards second base or put the ball in play. I know a lot of people think that baseball is all reaction but really its a lot of thinking ahead and being mentally prepared. If a player goes up to bat thinking he will strike out, then he will most likely strike out because he has convinced himself that he cant do it. Being Mentally in the game is another part of this game, knowing what to do with the ball if you get it and being focused at all times because you never know what may happen. Before a game a lot of players will sit there and go through scenarios that could possibly happen during the game in their head, this is called mental preparation. Know what you are doing at all times and be mentally in the game no matter what the score.

What to be a Team player?

One way to be considered a team player is to bunt. Bunting is a key skill you need to master if you want to be considered a team player. People who watch baseball would think bunting is an easy skill but in reality its really not that easy. Being able to bunt a ball toward first base or third base without popping the ball up in the air is a very hard skill to master. Although its difficult, with a lot of practice and correct form you will be able to put down a bunt without a problem. A couple key things you need to know before you try to bunt is how to stand properly. When setting up your stance, Your feet should be about shoulder width apart, in an athletic stance. The second thing you need to work on is your grip, if you're right handed then your left hand should be close to the nob (that is at the end of the handle) and with your right hand you want to pinch the barrel with your thumb and index finger. don't stab at the ball just let the ball hit the bat. also when you set up your feet will be facing toward the pitcher not the plate anymore. Your torso should also be facing the pitcher.
